Govt won’t interfere in next general polls: Quader

The government in place today will not interfere during the next general elections the minister said. Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader in a statement today.

"There will be no interference of the present government in the next election. Only if the Election Commission is impartial, it will be possible to hold a free and fair election. To this end, the president will form an Election Commission with a search committee," he stated.

Quader who is also the general secretary of the Awami League was speaking to reporters while examining the Aminbazar Bridge-2, which is still under construction (8-lane) situated in Savar.

The evidence is unambiguous about an election that is neutral, according to the minister.

Concerning the construction of the Aminbazar Bridge, the minister stated that about 25 percent of the work on the bridge along Turag the river with a an estimated cost of Tk210 crore -- is completed.

The bridge's construction is scheduled to finish by February 2023. said Quader.
